They will also be compared with each other in order to point out the difference between the influences they do in the poem and what effect each creates. In the first chapter, we are to distinguish rhythmic classifications and define the notions related. In the second one, we are to show how all of them work. The goal of this research is to define the concept of poetic rhythm and its functions and to analyze the influence on the reader’s impressions in the case of English poetry. According to the aim of the paper, there can be identified the following tasks: 
1) To define the concept and possible classifications of rhythm in English poetry. 
2) To explore the history of rhythm changes and development in English poetry. 
3) To explore the use of rhythm in English poems. 
4) To analyze and compare the use of rhythm in English poems. 
5) Depending on the results of the tasks listed above, to define the role and the functions of English poetry rhythm. 
The subject of the research is the functions of rhythm in English poetry. 
The object of the research is English poetry.
