The purpose of this work is to study rendering irony while translating «House M.D.» TV series.
This goal led to the following tasks:
1) to consider existing approaches to the study of irony;
2) to identify the mechanisms underlying the functioning of irony;
3) to analyze the identified examples of irony when comparing the texts of the original and the translation and to characterize the means of implementing the reception of irony in a series;
4) to summarize the results of the analysis to deduce the patterns of translation of irony from English to Russian.
