Subject of the research: features of neologisms translation from English into Russian (based on the novel by J.K. Rowling “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”).
The purpose of the work: to identify the ways of the translation of neologisms from English into Russian.
The tasks of the work are determined by its purpose:
1) to describe the concept of “neologism” and present its main characteristics;
2) to describe the ways of forming neologisms;
3) to present the types of neologisms in the novel;
4) to analyze the features of the translation of neologisms into Russian.
The material of the study was the novel by J. K. Rowling's “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone”, as well as translations of this novel into Russian: “Гарри Поттер и волшебный камень” by Maria Spivak, “Гарри Поттер и философский камень” by Igor Oransky. A comparative analysis of two translations of the same work will help to identify different variants of translation strategies. The total volume of the studied material was 1121 pages. The corpus of neologisms consists of 67 lexical units.
